Animoca Brands, a leading blockchain gaming company with a large presence in the market, has announced its entry into bitcoin ecosystem,

The big announcement from the Hong Kong-based company came via a post on X on Tuesday.

Among other details, Animoca Brands said it is “coming to Bitcoin” and that the leading blockchain network is “web3 ready.”

In this quest to dominate the new era of Bitcoin gaming, Animoca Brands is using the OPAL protocol, a new ecosystem on Bitcoin powered by the BLIF token.

According to details shared by the Animoca team on Tuesday, the project will include gaming, entertainment, decentralized finance (DeFi), education, and culture.

Already, six Animoca Brands portfolio companies have reportedly joined the initiative as Genesis members. These include AAA massively multiplayer online (MMO) game Life Beyond, digital collectibles platform Magic Eden, Bitcoin Web3 wallet Xverse, and developer platform Horizon Labs.

Additionally, Animoca plans to partner with OPL on all its upcoming Bitcoin-based projects.

Special council members include Animoca Brands’ Yat Siu, BRC-20 maker Domo and DareWise CEO Ben Charbit. The others are Leah Wald, Hervé Lahren and David Bailey.
