Polygon’s implementation of the Naples hard fork brings three significant upgrades derived from Ethereum’s Denkun upgrade.

A standout feature of the Napoli hard fork is the activation of RIP-7212 on the Polygon POS sidechain, making it the leading network to support this development.

As part of today’s Napoli hard fork, Polygon POS became the first series to activate the Rollup Improvement Proposal (RIP) with RIP-7212, which brings support for a new precompile for the SECP256R1 curve!

Developed by Rollcall, the RIP-7212 features precompiled support for the secp256r1 curve, promoting greater interoperability with mainstream technologies. This collaborative effort between Layer 2 projects including ZkSync Era and Optimism outlines a collective effort towards scaling development of Ethereum.

Polygon’s upcoming Feijoa upgrade is set to include support for EIP-4844, a significant fee-reducing enhancement demonstrated at Denkun, further solidifying its commitment to advancing Ethereum’s scalability solutions.
